ODE TO THE UNDESERVING

This is for every guy who didn't treat us the way we deserved to be treated, even after we'd given them all the love, care, honesty and loyalty we could possibly give; they simply never made enough efforts to reciprocate the affection that was given them.

This for every guy whom we loved and accepted despite the many warnings we received about their disloyalty, irresponsibility, or immaturity.

This is for the men we chose to be with and stay with even when our friends, family and virtually the whole world told us we were too good for them, and even when we ourselves realized that we should be moving on to someone smarter, kinder and more good-looking.

This is for the guys whom we still forgave and took back even after they'd repeatedly hurt us and let us down, even after they'd wasted every single chance we'd given, even after we'd been called fools and martyrs by those who knew better.

This is for the men who never deserved our love and still got it.

Even though we've always known that we were too smart and too mature for you, we have also been wise enough to understand that becoming someone who deserves someone else's love does not depend on those superficial things. Not at all. Deserving someone's love all depends on whether or not you are able to reciprocate that love and manifest it through simple honesty, loyalty and affection. We know we could do better, as we have already been with other guys who have managed to treat us well and make us truly happy.

You, sadly enough, could not do that. That is why we deem you undeserving. And yet we would like to thank you for teaching us to respect ourselves enough to move on and find someone who truly deserves our love.
